Concerned about another student?

Often when someone is struggling with a personal problem, friends and co-workers are the first to notice their difficulties. It is important that we, as part of the Stanford community, look out for each other, and it is always best to err on the side of caution - if you think there might be a problem, then there probably is. When you are concerned about your friend or co-worker, there are offices with people you can speak with and online resources to help you deal with the situation.

The Graduate Life Office has information for those concerned about another student, including warning signs. Call (650) 736-7078 to make an appointment to speak with someone regarding your concerns.

The Stanford Women's Community Center offers advice on how to help a friend who may be experiencing disordered eating or has been the victim of sexual assault.

Women's Community Center - How to Help a Friend

If you want to speak with someone regarding your concerns about your friend, you can have a confidential conversation with the Women's Community Center CAPS representative, Sheila Levin.

Vaden has resources for how to assist a friend who turns to you for help, and specifically how to deal with someone you suspect may be depressed. This information is targeted at undergraduates, but is still useful.
